Participants join through state referrals through the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission or through private pay arrangements. Please contact the Director, Eloise Newell, for information about fees.

Students work at Restoration Project until they are ready to apply their renewed strengths to an occupation closer to their own goals and dreams. The average person works two days a week and stays 12 months, though the rehabilitation process is gradual and individual. After six months, they share their schedule at Restoration Project with a series of part time volunteer or paid positions, leading to permanent employment. Examples of fields chosen are paralegal services, home health care, retail sales, construction, nursery and garden service, and counseling. Some return to school to develop their skills and interest further.

The community is welcome to visit and to volunteer at Restoration Project. Adult Education students join our program during the day to work on their own furniture next to our participants. We appreciate the sense of community and the opportunity to educate the public about mental illness.
